One has to guess that you must be working on a project where a very large production volume is anticipated. In the past it was likely the case that using one of the many part families from Hitachi/Renesas for a low volume project could get you in trouble. Trouble would be that if their high volume user for the part stopped using it you could find the part very soon going EOL.
