As Erik say, the AVR is a fine part, and I have nothing against using it - just don't give incorrect arguments against 8051s!

Remember that 8051-based chips are available from literally hundreds of different manufacturers; so you need to be very careful not to dismiss that entire spectrum based upon 1 or 2 examples - especially outdated examples...
