There is a big difference between single-sourced chips and a single-source architecture.

Single-sourced ARM chips from NXP.

Althought the specific chip is single-source, the architecture is very widely sourced indeed.

It is still easier to switch between chips of the same architecture than between totally different, proprietary architectures!
