Hi Per, Be careful, doing DSP doesn't necessary mean your mcu must run at ultra high speed, for example PID synthesis can run happily on a 1mip machine, however the greater the speed and bit field are of course advantages which open DSP up with throughput. If you check out the prices of Arm 7 and dspic30/33 chips you may even find they are cheaper than most 8 bit mcu's but this pricing structure is done deliberately to lure you, what you should compare is compiler prices instead because on the DSP level you can't be expected to program on an assembler level can you? cheers JA |
