Like all good LCR meter's mine has a zero auto adjustment, i.e., short the leads out and press ZERO button, job done, flying leads or no flying leads it makes no difference.


I think the 'flying leads' comment from Erik's statement refers those normally found on a prototyping breadboard?

Not suggesting that you use (or should use) one for the construction of your prototypes (even clever layout on veroboard would be preferable IMO), simply saying..
