#132579 - at least the LINUX stuff is tested ... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I've spent mucn of the last 6 months proving that XILINX tools for Windows aren't. There are things that appear immediately, obvious to anyone who's ever used a tool of this type, that make it obvious ISE v8.x was never even tried out before being released. They re-released it three times within 9 months and still had dozens of major bugs. Fortunately, some of the problems were resolved in their new v9 If course, as with v8, there was already a major re-release as v9.1 to fix bugs.
Windows itself is certainly not excessively tested. The applications FREQUENTLY have major "creatures" that make them less pleasant to use. The only reason Microsoft doesn't get itself sued more often is because they don't specify how Windows is supposed to work, so you can't go after them when it doesn't. Yes, we're stuck with Windows, though we don't yet have to buy VISTA, but at least LINUX offers some hope for the future. With 500 million PC's in the world, and 85% of them running Windows, there's not much more Microsoft can do. If they stick with Windows as their flagship, they'll have to fix bugs eventually. They can't make money that way, so they're moving off into the game-box market. RE |
