Don't you mean "impugn"? Impune means something else.
What dignity? Look at the way youngsters behave these days! Look at the utterly stupid choices they make! There are lots of slackers who'd like the work rules to be as you suggest. However, that's why the standard of living for most Americans is declining. Their productivity is no longer competitive, so people aren't willing to pay as much value for it. Most youngsters don't notice that, since they get more dollars. The fact they can't buy much with those dollars goes unnoticed. Just look at the advertising that's mostly directed at them. If they buy the stuff that's promoted in that way, then they really are the idiots the advertisers say they are. I require at least 20 years' progressively responsible engineering work over a broad range of disciplines, AND the ability to read, write, apply proper grammar, syntax, and orthography, at least in English. It's expected that everyone be able to perform his assigned tasks without frequent direction and deliver it. complete and on schedule. My guys seldom work here, as they prefer their own facilites. When we meet here, or at a client's site, they know to leave their toys in the car, though I think only one of them has a cellphone. It's hard for someone with young kids to have 20+ years' solid experience. My youngest associate is about 45 and has no daycare-aged kids. People get "in" here because they've asked to be "in" and because I've invited them. I don't advertise for help, so I'm not worried about any sort of discrimination suits. I am VERY discriminate in whom I involve in working for my clients. I don't have a large pool of help. I haven't lost or replaced anyone in over a decade. What I'm doing seems to work for me. If I wanted to spend the necessary dough for private offices for everyone, it would have to come out of their pay. The guys I have are smart enough to know that they can't buy much with a private office. If you need privacy in order to be happy on your job, then it's because you need to hide. Nobody here needs to do that. If the people to whom you refer had any dignity, they'd be focused on their work and not on jibber-jabbering with their buddies or listening to the latest "tunes." RE |
