I've seen too many fancy GUI's running on LINUX, I guess. What do you NEED, that can't be made to work under LINUX? I was always wishing that when I left my Linux laptop, the screen would actually turn off. Or if I shut the laptop, it would hibernate. In the 2 or 3 years I was running Linux as my exclusive OS and after three Linux upgrades (Redhat 7.3 to 9.0 and then to Fedora), those simple features never worked. At least not on my laptop. When I got a new laptop, it came with XP installed. I used it for awhile and had no problems. So I kept it (well, I upgraded it to XP Pro). I still have my Linux laptop, but all it does is run a webserver-based accounting system and I use it to compile things that I will eventually deploy on the 8052.com server. Linux is a great server but I eventually gave up on it for the desktop. Hopefully it someday truly becomes ready for the desktop. Regards, Craig Steiner |
