No, it's not a joke. It's an actual article. After some number of seconds you will be automatically transferred to the article, assuming your browser supports such a thing. Yep, I waited the 20 seconds and it transferred me to...drum roll...the very same page saying wait 20 seconds. It's because of things like this that I think the IT in "IT department" really stands for "Incompetent Twits" ;-) The article just talks about how Microsoft claims that you only need a five year old system to run Vista, but the author disagrees. I suspect the author disagrees because, as usual, Microsoft is lying through its ass. He makes a point of claiming that you need to buy lots more memory today because you will need it later. You'll need a lot more that additional memory if you want to "upgrade" to Vista. Vista is ultra-slow because so many CPU cycles are eaten up by the Digital Restrictions Management software. Not to mention the "spy on the consumer" crap that is an extension of the "phone home" software in XP. It actually makes me wonder if he also buys a couple of extra cars today since he will eventually need new ones in the future. I wouldn't be surprised. Anyone who would inflict Vista on himself probably thinks that way. Moreover, I will never "upgrade" to anything that's still brand new. By the time I start using it I want everyone else in the world to have discovered all of the bugs and security holes. Vista isn't an upgrade. It's a downgrade from XP. The addition of DRM and the lack of support for existing software is hardly what I'd call an upgrade. If you really want to upgrade, get a Linux install CD/DVD. Worked for me :-) |
