#126837 - More on Flash Reliability Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Reliability is a word that may have slightly different meanings to each of us. All of the "good" parameters of a Flash are set by the quality of the gate oxide. 1,000,000 cycles means that the fab has a very high quality oxide.
I agree that is is a poor programmer who has to change their code 1M times. And it is a very good idea to move commonly changed data locations around to avoid wearout problems. I think we have the power-down glitches under control. The flash has a built-in low voltage lockout to prevent writes during power down. We will also add a brownout capability to the design to prevent the processor from ever entering the write mode. I can't do a lot about bad programming practices. All I can do is offer a better flash than the competition. |
