The Dallas DS89C4x0 allows you to switch, under firmware control, between external oscillator /1K, *1, *2, and *4. That enables the programmer to accomodate power constraints, even when, for short periods, he has to rush. For battery- or solar-powered applications, this is a really helpful feature.
Somehow, I doubt Dallas was the only outfit to figure that one out. RE |
