#126823 - can you sell it for less than $1.41 Responding to: ???'s previous message |
There is a big market for selling replacements for parts that have been discontinued
can you sell it for less than $1.41 as an example of "drop in replacements" look at the P89C52X2BA which sell for $1.41 at DigiKey (not the cheapest place usually). I did not even search to the end, so this may not be the cheapest replacement. Now, I guess you will reply something about "added features", the value of which, is refuted by your own statement These are not new designs, and many customers don't want to have to go back and re-design an existing product I am NOT trying to burst your bubble, just trying to get you to think this through and come out with something of value. Of course, if this is a hobby project, all my statements re feasibility are irrelevant, but I somehow get the impression it is not. If, after rethinking, you decide to make something current (or even, better than 'current') you will have my full cooperation. I'd love to replace some multichip solutions. Erik |
