#113466 - Northrepps? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I just picked up this thread (it's not included in the nightly mailing), and found all 7 pages fascinating. Is this the Northrepps near Cromer? If so, I've occasionally flown into the Gurneys' strip (Northrepps International Airport), and camped there.
Ironically, I've also flown a rented C172 out of Centennial, Denver! Cheapest flying I've ever done... After some years living in NJ and lots of touring the US, I did come to the conclusion that England isn't such a bad place. I think emmigration (unless it is forced by some human rights issue) is usually escape from perceived problems, only to take on the same, but different problems in another country. THEN you look back and see life wasn't so bad after all. I do remember being advised never to leave without a raincoat, whilst in SF, and thinking, this isn't so different from England. Yet SF was where all Americans aspired to be (the 70's) at the time - despite the threat of earthquake. I once contemplated moving to Perth (the Western Oz one - the remotest city on earth), and got the necessary visas, but eventually decided against it. I would have been moving for the wrong reasons. I WAS on the brink of retirement myself, but my previous company just went bust and took my pension fund with it. My self-employed fund has also just floundered, and every year, the state's 'breadline' safety net is whittled away by increasing local taxes (that perversely are not income dependent). So I guess I'll be programming 8052s until I go gaga (perhaps I am already). Dave |
