#112842 - Not bad, but listen to Erik ... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
He's been there. The only place I ever stayed was with family on Mt. Soledad, at the home of my late wife's uncle who was formerly the San Diego County Attorney. Being on a hillside such that you can see the ocean is not only desirable because it's pretty, but it's necessary so you don't die from the heat. When there's an east wind, it comes from the desert, and I'm sure you can imagine what that's like. The Mojave isn't much different from the Nefu or the Kalahari and it doesn't cool off much at night.
The sea breeze is worth quite a bit. It doesn't look like this place you're considering is overpriced, but it hasn't got a basement, so it hasn't got a major attachment to the ground. If I were you, I'd visit before making an offer, and look at how steep the hillside is. They don't have much landslide trouble in the SD area in general, if I'm not mistaken, but you never know ... at least until you look. OTOH, if it's in a "hole" then you'll probably feel like you're in a pressur cooker most of the time. San Diego has some of the most pleasant weather I've ever experienced in California. Of course, I still live in Colorado. RE |
