te taxes, they are sky high in CA. If you live in a motor home, why have the taxbase where the taxes are the highest? You never know what the IRS may decide your taxation status is...
Oh, by the way DO check with the INS (Immigration and Naturalization Service) rep at the local US consulate re staying in the US for years, they are sometimes very fuzzy about that . Obviously I do to want to pay any more tax than necessary. Done enough of that already. I guess I need somewhere warm with low taxes - any ideas? I have already looked at the immigration side of things and you are right it is fuzzy. For a start there are lots of web sites that look official but are actaully just commercial - took me a while to find the genuine immigration dept. Seems you still need a face to face interview at the US embassy in London before even a non-immigrant visa is granted for stays exceeding 90 days and it can take 16 weeks to issue the visa. Whatever happens we will make a longish vacation trip to California next spring to check out things first hand so to speak. Ian |
