Moved to the Tampa Bay area 6 years ago from Northern Ohio and I'm still kicking myself for waiting so long to do it. No state income tax. Sales taxes around 7%. If you love warm water, it's everywhere! The one thing lacking is mountain vistas. Heck, there aren't even any big hills here.
Go to Orlando and visit Mickey and his friends, they will definitly show you a good time. Go to any of the beaches, relax in the warm sand with a cool drink in your hand, watching hundreds of scantily clad gals...life is good! Hal I been florida for 3 years. The weather is really nice till May and Hot to Sept to Oct. Here's general problem with fl. The storms we had in last two years pushed the home insurance though the roof, if you purchased house in last 6 months to a year you are deep trouble. Any one with 3 to 6 years is safe for now. A few more catagory 4 or 5 and we may have problem with insurance. I will give example my buddy lived here 30 years and never got hit with catagory 1 or 2. Their are more snakes spiders and fire ants here. By this I mean black racers non venous type. Make sure you purchase a generator for every day storms in florida. I spend a year in vietnam and florida has that type heavy rain at times. Last thing to think about is allergies from Feb. 1 to March 24 I have been bad shape. If you don't have allergies you should be ok. The price on housing starting look like New York. But only after Jan. 2006. Also we have Killer Bee's coming our way. It doesn't mean I will leave but each state has it problems. Look at all the members comments and pick what's best for you. Best reguards, Ralph |
