You see, people (e.g. Erik) complain that the i8255 is too slow. However, it's faster than the standard 803x.

"the standard 803x.", where do you buy that, in the same antique store wher you get the 8255? The most 'miserable' chips I have seen introduced in the last 3+ years will run at 6 clocks at 18MHz or better.

Of course, if your attitude is "I will run this modern shit like I used to in the good old days" instead of taking advantage of progress, that is your option.
