#126129 - memory is one thing, today is another Responding to: ???'s previous message |
It's a component of a microcomputer ... Which is what a microcontroller wants to be.
WRONG! no microcontroller "want to be a micocomputer" it is a stupid mistake of many so called designers trying to make a "square" microcontroller fit into the "round" hole for a microcomputer. Trying to make a '51 fit in a place where it was never intended to be, is not the fault of the '51 but the fault of the i.. - be nice - whoever chose it for that app. For as long as I can remember, "not enough I/O's" has been a chronic problem. memory is one thing, today is another. The problem is gone. today with internal Flash and RAM you have all 32 pins for I/O on a standard issue and, if that is not enough, there are plenty of 8-porters around. In addition the offerings in IIC, SPI etc have exploded in recent years. Erik |
