I am new here and am just getting started with the 8051 ... I am looking to find a ... 8-bit 8051 That may be just a typo, but the 8051 is 8-bit - there is no other option (there were a couple of spin-offs long ago, but I think they're all gone now). I would certainly echo the recommendations of others that you look at a development/evaluation board from Silicon Labs (SiLabs). Especially for a beginner, the on-chip debug is a real no-brainer - why would you start with something that doesn't have it?! With a DevKit, you don't have to worry about the non-0.1" pitch. 3/3.3V (and lower) operation is really something you need to get used to. Where do you suggest I purchase them? (I am in the U.S.) I think you can buy direct from the SiLabs site? Manufacturers (almost) always have a list of distributors on their site somewhere... I'd be surprised if Digikey and/or Mouser don't have them. Farnell have them over here - I think they're called Newark or Element-14 over there... |
