#185842 - Which modern small 8051 should I use? |
Hi, I am new here and am just getting started with the 8051. I have been studying and using Keil's evaluation compiler to practice writing Embedded C applications and running them in the simulator.
So now I want to move on to the real thing. I am looking to find a cheap, low power, 8-bit 8051 to use for a battery-powered application. Just needs to be able to run at 12MHz, have one 16-bit auto-reload timer, and have 12 or 13 pins to use for I/O. Through-hole is a plus. Which manufacturers and chip models should I consider? Where do you suggest I purchase them? (I am in the U.S.) From my research, it sounds like there have been a few of these 8051 chips being discontinued over the past five years, and it would be nice to find a manufacturer/chip that will be likely to be around for a while. Any reccomendations would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance! |
