As already noted, a great deal of it is not really related to the processor architecture at all - whether it's 8051 or ARM (of whatever flavour) or anything else...

Again, once you get to "large" apps, the underlying processor architecture - or, indeed, any hardware detail - is of very little concern.

Of more concern is the software "framework" - whether it's Linux, or Android, or WinCE, or whatever.
