#179691 - Fresh blood is needed Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Look at number of posts/month on this forum.
The numbers are dwindling. Being true to the domain name means that a few hard-core 8051 users will have to chat with themselves with no one to listen, and no one who supply alternative views to problems. The best way to revitalize the site is to add some more topics. Maybe general electronics. Maybe ARM processors. But something that means not just students but very qualified engineers come visiting the site regularly. Only then will it be meaningful to spend time reading posts here. Right now, 8052 is like a quite low-volume mailing list, and there is a very dangerous knee where people will stop visiting because they will find too few valuable discussions or have to few top-notch engineers that may help them. I did mention this same problem about a year ago. Then the response was basically: "Take a hike" from some members. A year later, the volume of posts is way lower. A year from now, it will be even lower. Unless, some active work is performed. A large percentage of embedded problems can be solved in identical ways with [insert random processor core]. But new engineers will take their first wobbly steps based on what processor architectures their school did use. And the manufacturers and sales people will show them all the new goodies. The question then is if 8052 should limit itself to a few 50+ aged developers or if there is an interest in bringing in new, fresh, blood regularly. |
