It's when you're fighting these specific limitations that you should be thinking about changing architecture - unless there's other specific advantages of the 8051 that outweigh these limitations. The ARM timers are also conceptually very simple. Note that the timers are traditionally nothing specifically to do with ARM - they are peripherals added by the particular silicon implementer. |
