#176411 - Totally missing the point again! Responding to: ???'s previous message |

what is the difference between testing an IC and testing and IC with a cable? The point was not that it made any difference to the nature of the test - the point was that makes a difference as to whether the test was worthwhile or not! eg, one of the arguments against testing just the IC was the possibility of damage due to handling - which obviously doesn't apply to a cable assembly! There was also the question of whether it was commercially viable. etc, etc! However, testing a cable assembly can be different to testing just the chip - since there are additional manufacturing faults that you may wish to distinguish. Again, you didn't adequately specify the requirement! If you don't fully & precisely define the requirement, then you will get side-tracks! Only makes difference for the curious or for who likes to make a 60+ thread... which could be solved OR not with 1 or 2 posts! Yet again, it's a discussion forum - so people will discuss these things! |
