#186521 - why in 2 steps? Responding to: ???'s previous message |

Soemthing else has occurred to me while looking round the NXP website. There is an upgrade from version 4 of the NXP bootloader to version 5. This is in the form of a hex file that is loaded into block 0 and, when run, it updates block 1 with version 5 of the bootloader.
When you get EasyIAP you could use it to download and run this upgrade file which should then give you an NXP bootloader in the SST MCU. I believe that you can then update the bootloader through FlashMagic to version 7, which I think is the latest. As I said above, a bootloader could be concocted, functionally compatible with the NXP one, with potentially superior behaviour (e.g. better autobaud). That would resolve copyright issues. Anybody interested? Could result in a nice community project, sort of; especially if Microchip meant it seriously with the long term availability. I have bought some SST89E516 from Mouser, I hope I will get to play with them during the weekend. JW |
