We have used that, but not in boot mode.
The STC parts at http://www.stc-51.com/
do have a bootloader, and usable SW, and standard packages.

We qualified the STC STC12C60 devices, and I see they have a 'better' STC15F2K60S2 close to release.

Other candidate parts for 'Standard Pinout' replacement are the new Atmel AT89LP51ID2/RD2/ED2 (wide supply), or the Cyrod parts.

Those Atmel parts are quite new, so are still getting into the pipelines.
