#111397 - Cheat! Responding to: ???'s previous message |
When the budget is tight, the only thing you can do is... cheat!
One then has to be smart and not to use complex triggers. One can trigger based on simple/single events. One can time-delay. One can try to implement a complex triggering circuit ad-hoc. Of course, one looses some of the "comfort" of the full-featured LA, but the price/performance curve gets too steep at it's far end. This is the same as with debugging tools - one can work with monitors and simulators at low end of price and performance, then can have the JTAG-thingy for a couple of bucks more, and then the ICE with all the bells and whistles for $$$$s. The first few steps for the few $$s gives an immense change in debugging approach; the last $$$$+ step gives the "comfort" of complex triggers and conditional breakponts and memory-access-based breakponts and even trace buffers. So one needs to consider his needs and turn out his pockets and make the... compromise... some of us do every day... JW |
