Dear Jez, thanks for your reply. How much will be the cost for the above said implementation? With my limited knowledge about ASICs, I think I need the following:

  • VHDL knowldege : This I have, and I have experience in programming in VHDL(not bigger ones, counters, flip-flops, combination logics..), Xilinx and Model Sim interfaces
  • A dev. board: Since I reckon stand-alone FPGA implementation of something would require SMD-PCBs, a dev. board would be handy. How much does it cost? Last time I saw something called a start up pack for $99 from Altera, but I dont know what are the specifications that I would need
  • How long does it take for the whole process to happen? If I order it tonight, then possibly one week? $99-$150 is affordable for me in this FPGA regard.
