I agree, it's possible to make a mess in nearly any technology. Further, a neatly and carefully executed implementation on one of these solderless breadboards, one that doesn't exceed the inherent limitations of the breadboard itself, either by frequency component values (keep in mind that the breadboard itself is a component with capacitance, inductance, and resistance) can work quite properly for a while. Sitting on the shelf, being pushed around, having things set on top of it, it may not remain so "solid", however.
