#181049 - upcoming AT89LP chips |
In a new "white paper", Atmel quietly announced several new upcoming chips of the singleclocker AT89LP series.
While the original AT89LP series was designed to be a completely new family, non-pin-and-feature-compatible with the "classical" chips; the newcoming chips appear to be designed as a direct replacement for most of Atmel's existing '51 offerings. The new chips include 'LP51Rx2/ED2/Ix2 (with 10-bit ADC in each of these models), and the 'LP51CC01/CC03 with CAN support. Atmel thus appears to continue being committed to support their '51 line and provide direct upgrades of it. This also explains the recent appearance of 'LP51 and 'LP52. In the table, there is also a "flash-downscaled" version of the so-far-the-biggest model (LP6440) - the 'LP3240. The new chips' appearance is scheduled to 3rd and 4rd quarter of this year, according to the document. When will the mere mortals be able to buy the new chips over the counter is of course a different question. JW PS. Oh, yes, and Atmel totally @#$%ed up their website in the recent "reconstruction". |
