The matter often is, "Can I make these parts I have on hand work?"
There have been occasions right here on 8052.COM where a person has had the necessary parts on hand, yet he's still been exhorted to use something else. It's like telling a guy who's got some used lumber that he needs to use new boards. It may be totally inappropriate! You are completely ignoring everyone's point. If the guy has an 8031, he cannot use it unless he has an EEPROM programmer and a board that can accept the micro and the EEPROM and the necessary glue logic. And EEPROM programmers are not cheap, especially for the experimenter, and since we have no idea of his skill and experience level (although we can guess), telling him to go out on eBay to find one is probably a bad idea, as he may buy an "EEPROM programmer" that won't work with the necessary devices. So right away he's spending a LOT more money than the hundred bucks a complete SiLabs dev kit costs, and he's spending it on stuff that's not useful for modern parts. And THAT is the point that everyone has been trying to make, and that you've been willfully ignoring. -a |
