Or, more likely, the men who wrote it, decades or even centuries after the death of someone called Jesus, had an agenda, and claimed divine inspiration to author the "Word of God." No, historians and archaologist have stated that the New testament books were all written around the time of Jesus. The've used evidence like the "Dead sea scrolls" and writtings of greek philosophers. All the writtings that were centuries after, "da vinci code" type, have been rejected(for canonization) many times by most of the various christian denominations. Some of the books in the New testament are letters of encouragement to the church of that time. If the authors were making things up the people of that time would have known since they were alive to remember who Jesus was and all the drama surrounding him. Of course they had an agenda, but Since your implying this agenda is bad somehow... What kind of nefarious agenda do you suppose they had? The Bible was written over a period of 1,600 years with 40 different authors on three different continents and in three different languages without contradication. That would make up one hardcore conspiratorial agenda! |
