#144108 - interpretation? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Do you really believe that God literally struck Ananias dead because he refused to tithe? Isn't it more likely that the priests did it to make an example of him? No, It was because he LIED. The Bible never states or imply's that you are required to tithe or you will die. Plus a tithe is 10% not 100% and the idea came from the OLD testament. Acts 5:4 "Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God." What about Onan? Did God really strike him dead for refusing to consort with his deceased brother's wife (she must have been a real bowser!) as was the custom of the day, and "casting his seed upon the ground." He was willing to have sex with her but not give her any children. GOD knew where his heart was at so GOD killed him. Genesis 38:9-10 "But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother. What he did was wicked in the LORD's sight; so he put him to death also." |
