#114984 - OMNIpotence Responding to: ???'s previous message |
If one can hypothesize an omnipotent, omniscient diety, then one must wonder: who created the creator?
Not really, as this would imply that the omnipotent, omniscient entity is restricted by the concept of "events occur in in ordered sequence", commonly known as "time". This would be a very clear contradiction to the term "omnipotent" (think about the term for a minute, and don't let your thoughts rest on the usual picture of "can create objects out of thin air"). Any entity that is omnipotent is by definition not bound by the laws of our universe. What we know as "time" must have even less meaning to an omnipotent entity than the forward and reverse buttons on the VCR have to us. The question "who created the creator?" is about as meaningful as asking "what is north of the north pole?" or "what happened before the big bang?", on the assumption that the creator is truly omnipotent. |
