#114846 - truth by assertion Responding to: ???'s previous message |
the reason that people assert that the theory of evolution is probably correct and the 'theory' of creationism isn't is that the theory of evolution produces testable predictions and can be proven to be wrong or right by the collection of evidence and experimant.Creationism makes no testable predictions and so is utterly unprovable, if creationism was put forward as the basis of a research grant it would get laughed out.You would have to say that you were basing your theory on some two thousand year old books written at a time when the earth was believed to be the centre of the universe and the stars were the psyical embodiment of Gods.they would say that the earth is now known to be an average planet orbiting an avaerage star which is part of an average galaxy and that there are countless other stars where conditions were right for the evolution of life and there are probably countless other civilsations that believe that they are special in some way. |
