Here's a thought. Some of you may be familiar with Akira Kurasawa's masterwork film, "Rashomon." (Those that are not should buy or rent the film tonight!) A crime (murder) is committed, and we are shown four versions of the events, as told by four different characters (including, interestingly, the victim). Each character is absolute in his belief that he is telling the Truth, yet all of the stories are both contradictory and self-serving. How can this be? One should recall that there are four main Gospels, each telling different versions of the Truth. I am told by those who believe that the Bible is the One Truth, yet I count four. Again, I ask: how can this be? -a |
