#114761 - Secular humanism
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Salaam Mahmood,

It is a fundamental tenet of secular humanism that man created God in his own image.

I find that when you discover that God hates all the same people you do, then you can pretty well be assured that you've created God in your own image.

I also find that anyone, be they theologian or scientist, who believes the subjects to be mutually exclusive, knows as little of their own subject as the other.

If you fancy yourself a scientist, sceptical of a creator God, then I challenge you to do the math necessary to support what people proffer today as Darwinian evolution. Ask yourself this question. Assuming that evolution occurs by random mutation and natural selection, what is the average number of years it will take for any given species to evolve from its immediate antecedant species? You will be amazed how fast your beliefs collapse under the weight of reason.

Finally, here's one more thing to ponder.

In Christian theology we hold the Hebrew scriptures (TaNaK, for Torah, Neviim and Ketuvim, what we call the Old Testament) to be God's Word. But unlike the Jews, who call the first book Bereshit, we call the first book Genesis. We get the word from the Septuagint (LXX), or Greek translation, in the second chapter wherein it says "These are the generations of the heavens and the earth ...,"(Genesis 2: 4). You can probably tell just from that short phrase that the word doesn't mean "origin," but all of the intervening time since then as well. In other words, the passage deals with how the world came to be, not just how it began.

Now think about Darwin's famous writing. He called it, "The Origin of Species." This was the focus of his work, to suggest a hypothesis for the origin, the genesis, of new species.

So what? Think about it. If the people involved had been a bit more careful in their translating, theologians today would be defending the Biblical account of Evolutions against the secular Darwinian theory of Genesis.

Just a thought.
