#170199 - Walter, Please eschew obfuscation and equivocation Responding to: ???'s previous message |
There's no risk in tellin us exactly what you are trying to do. You've "beaten about the bush" for some time and provided very little information.
First of all, you could provide a link, or, if you were really serious, provide some detail, perhaps in the form of a schematic, describing how, exactly, you want to effect this hookup. Do not omit any details, i.e. cable type, cable length, characteristic impedance, connector type, driver type, and don't forget that PHYTEC, AFAIK, doesn't sell chips ... they sell board-level products, so you must describe what else is going on in the PHYTEC circuit, not the least of which is the crystal frequency. Only very recently has it come to light that your problem is that you have only one serial port on your PC. That's trivially resolvable, as has already been pointed out. If you look, for just a few minutes, at the RS232 standard, you'll immediately see that it is not well suited for daisy-chaining. There are things that are "possible" yet are not "recommended." If you want to solve your problem without adding ciruitry, you should (a) say that quite unequivocally, and (b) tell us what you are willing to do. This doesn't appear to be a difficult problem, aside, perhaps, from the communication code in the context of whatever else is going on in your PHYTEC boards. Please don't "dance around" and try to keep secrets. This thing would have been resolved weeks ago, had you simply put the necessary information on the table. BTW, please don't expect others to do the research required in order to peresent the information you should provide. Present ALL RELEVANT INFORMATION clearly and completely if you want all available help. RE |
