There has not been any (strong or not) negative replies to the OP's questions, and the OP's question wasn't silly to begin with.

What negative replies there has been, was to Tony's post, since that post explicitly mentioned that the TX of two processors should be shorted together (which would imply no logic gate or buffer in between. The negative replies was becaues the solution was onn-generic and if Tony did say A, he should also have said B, i.e. described the requirements needed for such a solution to work.
