I thought that was the purpose of RSense? Rsense is only to limit the current through stepper, when turning-on the MOSFET. Each time the MOSFET is turned-on energy is pumped into the inductance of stepper winding. Immediately before turning-off this current, current through stepper winding reaches its maximum. Afterwards the magnetic field begins to collapse and as consequence the current through stepper motor begins to decrease, up to the moment, when the MOSFET is turned-on again. By this scheme you can reliably limit the current through the stepper winding. But what you can see at Rsense is only the current which is pumped into the inductance by MOSFET. This is only one part of the motor current. The other part is circulating in the according free wheeling diode and cannot be seen therefore at Rsense. Kai |
