I saw that before and figured that if they were both set to the same value, then they may as well be tied together.

A very good reason for that... I forgot to draw those. The ones I have are to protect the FET against reverse voltage. I've corrected the drawing.




I'll try breaking that up to use two different sensing resistors to see if that makes any difference. Right now I don't think my reference voltage is stable.
