I think there are more who would definitely want it to survive - not necessarily in the form of actual microcontroller chips, but as a "core"
There has been several recent releases of special chips with a '51 core, One example is the IR "washing machine controllers". I recall some "special chip with a '51 core" was introduced in December or January, but I must not have been interested, I can't recall what it was.

Cypress when they last year revamped the psoc include a '51 variant.

SILabs are almost daily releasing new '51s.
