#181247 - SST89E58 Responding to: ???'s previous message |
David Good said: You should be able to use the Microchip/SST89E58, which IMHO is an identical chip except the NXP-supplied bootloader.
I've just finished a new design around the P89V51RC2FBC. The prototype is working as expected, but I don't want to design in a chip that is on it's way out, or worse, that are "available" but become harder and harder to find without long lead times which forces us to hold significant inventory and pay more per piece. Of course, Microchip might decide to cut them out, too. According to the notice I linked to above, 'CV51RB2 is going to be discontinued together with the 'V51RB2, so I'd not bet on them more than on the 'V'. There is still a backup option to ask e.g. Lynn Reed of Tekmos to provide a backup, as he did in case of the P89C668. JW |
