If you want to leave the 805x small-microcontroller ballpark, and move into the Linux ballpark - then that might be a good approach (although I'm still not convinced about this idea of using the target as your development host). That certainly would be a long and painful learning curve - not just learning the ARM (or whatever) processor architecture, but Linux also! But, if you want to stay in the small-microcontroller ballpark, then the Cortex-M0/3 parts are definitely the ones to consider. |
