Yes, that's true enough, but ARM, which now owns KEIL, would probably prefer the other path.

I would say that knowing only one architecture - whatever it may be - is a handicap.

If you had to pick only two, then I think 805x and ARM would be the two to go for:

Between all the AVR-promoters who've recently shown up here, and the ARM-promoters, I'd say that, while I may agree with you, not everyone wants the 805x to survive.
