Just FYI, this is not something I'm doing to improve my career opportunities. I'm quite happy with my status as a construction electrician... and even though I'm learning more aspects of that particular trade, improving my programming skills isn't really something that my path requires. :-)

This is entirely for hobby purposes, and I'm thinking that I might want to try a little bit of as much as I can. So it doesn't matter to me if what I learn is considered 'fringe' or 'mainstream' - it's the learning that counts.

I'll likely get into C eventually... just not right away.
