Maybe it just doesn't do it very well ...
What I mean is that little tool they provide as part of their toolset that manages the crossbar assignments for you ... sort-of ... I found it adequate for one of the "little" chips, but have never put the 'F12x parts into a real product, so I haven't exercised it fully. Any comments on that? They must have had to field a lot of questions about the XBAR, else they wouldn't have cooked up that tool to help with pin assignments. The SiLabs config tool sets up more than just the crossbar; it handles all of the device's peripherals. I always use it as a starting point, and I try to keep the config file (.cwg) in sync with the C source it creates. Of course, many designs need to deal with the peripherals in more than just a set-once manner, so you do need to understand what's going on. -a |
