what is your experience of silabs
Great! The one thing that makes SILabs shine is the on-chip debug. You get "ICE functionality" for (almost) free. The 'almost' is due to SILabs requiring a $40 (if I remember) 'dongle', but try to find any other "ICE functionality" for less that 20 times that. BTW do not buy a dongle, you get the dongle when you buy a devboard, making the devboard almost free. What has been produced from my developments have used thousands of SILabs chips. My one complaint about SILabs is that for the 'deviates' (f3xx-up) you need to be extremely carful the first (few) time(s). While they are true '51 as far as the core everything around the core is changed e.g. different UART, external clock input on XTAL2, .... Erik in other words, were I to take on a '51 development I'd use a SILabs chip |
