I do not know if this is why SILabs switched from derivatives to deviates, but guess that could be part of the reason.

What, nobody believes in synergy?
A writes appnote on softUART on which is usable on B's '51.
B writes appnote on PWM motors whatever which is usable on A's '51.
With no appnotes A and B both sell zero.
With the appnotes they help mutually and help recognising '51s among the crowd, which increases sales of both.

Or am I just that hopelessly naive?
