#170556 - We keep forgetting about the costs Responding to: ???'s previous message |

The good, old-fashioned pantograph engraver would be fine:
Paint the back of a sheet of Perspex black, then engrave the letters through the paint. Simple. Perhaps, but what does it cost? No doubt there are sheet materials available specifically designed for this kind of thing...? Yes, and, it's possible that there are sheets of 2-layer material that can be scored in a flatbed plotter, in the same way that vinyl window signs are done, though those are of a single-layer. How does that £45.00 + VAT compare with the cost of a case of beer? Who pays that? Or, as Steve says, NC panel engraving must be a common enough task that there would be an easy set-up to do it. IIRC, the bulk of the cost of an NC job was the setup, unless the job was VERY large. Tying up the guy who knows how to set the job up + running a couple of test panels could, I suspect, cost quite a bit. Whose budget supports that sort of expense? RE |
